Every summer, Agger attracts many guests with its unique location by the sea, lake, forest and fjord. To the south, the beach continues down into the bird sanctuary, Agger Tange, and to the north is Thy National Park with its beautiful lakes, heath areas and dune plantations

If you come by ferry from Thyborøn to Agger Tange, there is a good chance of seeing the harbor seal. In the marina you will find, among other things, a fishing shop and a summer restaurant.

Also visit Agger's small idyllic church, which has been moved several times due to sand drift.

Active holiday

For the active holidaymaker, Agger Tange offers some very special conditions that you won't find anywhere else in the country. And if you've been bitten by a crazy windsurfer, you have a completely unique opportunity to surf on one of the world's best surf stretches. If you prefer the water a bit more "dry", there is ample opportunity to sail, which can also be combined with fishing.

If you are on solid ground under your feet, there is plenty of opportunity to see the beautiful nature at Agger Tange through, for example, cycling, hiking or horse riding. The entire National Park Thy is criss-crossed by small paths and roads, without detracting from the magnificent nature.

For example, walk from Agger to Stenbjerg, past the Lodbjerg lighthouse with its beautiful view, along the rescue road over the protected Lyngby Hede and end at the fishing lodge Stenbjerg. A trip of approx. 19 km which requires good fitness. Or jump on the cycle path from Agger Tange, which continues along the North Sea all the way to Bulbjerg – more than 100 km.

Four wilderness hikes in Thy National Park

Get access to a website with digital route booklets, video introductions and directions for four hikes in Thy National Park. If you want to go hiking, but are in doubt about where to start, what you can experience and how to find your way, Wilderness Hikes are the solution
Thy National Park contains extensive landscapes, clean lakes, small coastal towns and large dune plantations.

Choose between four wilderness hikes, which together give a good impression of what National Park Thy can offer. What they have in common is that you start and end at the same place, and that you can choose to shorten the route along the way.

The four routes are:

  1. From lonely church to Isbjerg (14 km)
  2. From lake to lake (12 km)
  3. Coastal fishing, art and dune plantation (14 km)
  4. Coastal cliff, dune and plantation (16 km).

Right where the cranes turn

In some places, you get far into the wilderness, where nature reigns and where civilization can seem far away. Therefore, be ready to take a small detour if the path is flooded during wet periods. You may be lucky to experience both cranes and corvids, but you are guaranteed to experience some of the many interesting historical traces from man's struggle with and against nature.

The stay includes login to a website with:

  • Intro videos for the routes.
  • Possibility of calling the tour guide, who can give good advice per telephone.
  • A digital route booklet for each route with overview maps and descriptions of the routes' points of interest.
  • Access to the routes in the Viewranger app, so you can follow where you are on the route.
  • Option to purchase a guide.

Hiking on your own

There are several obvious walking routes in the area at Agger Tange and Flate Sø. Only one is marked with yellow arrows on red oak poles in the terrain, but the others give themselves and contain fantastic nature experiences.

1. Around Flade Sø - approx. 10 km. Start in Agger by, go up the dyke and north along the marked path. You have the North Sea on your left and first Agger town and then Flade Sø on your right. The path follows the lake to the east until you reach the country road. Walk along the country road and enjoy the view of Flade Sø to the west and Ørum Sø to the east. You can continue along the road all the way to Krik before turning back towards Agger, or you can follow the marked path around Flade Sø back to Agger town.

2. City tour - approx. 5 km. Another and shorter route is a walk around Agger, which starts at the beach, goes inland on a path just north of the town, down through the small streets and with a detour south to the tang, after which you turn your face west again and goes south of the town back to the beach.

3. Tangen Around. - You can also choose to walk south along the dike from the beach in Agger town and enjoy the entire stretch beyond Agger Tange. Here you will experience the very special thing of having the roaring sea on one side and the calmer lagoon and fjord on the other. When you reach Høfde 72, you can follow the path out onto Færgevejen and walk along the cycle path back to Agger by - or you can walk back along the dike again and see it all a bit from the other side.

The black houses and Fiskerhuset

Also experience the so-called "De Sorte Huse", where you can learn about the history of the area and the coast guard. De Sorte Huse is a cultural gem with an exhibition about the history of the town and fishing, but also numerous cultural events. There is also a "lunch box house".

Fiskerhuset in Agger conveys Agger's history, living conditions and building customs on the West Coast. The house is listed and the small low-ceilinged rooms have a special atmosphere. It is assumed that the house Fiskerhuset was built in 1749, as this year is carved into the cupboard door in the kitchen, which is therefore seen as the house's baptismal certificate. There is a special exhibition in the annex, i.a. about life in Agger and building customs in Thy in the 1800s.

Denmark's longest handicap path

Agger has Denmark's longest handicap path. From the parking lot by the dunes at the end of Vesterhavsgade, the path goes up the dune, after which you can either turn left or right.

To the left you come to an asphalt road in the direction of Agger Tange, the southernmost part of Thy National Park, where you can observe birds in the bird reserve in all seasons. If you turn right, you are heading towards Lodbjerg Lighthouse, which can be seen in the distance, and where Flade Sø lies just behind the dunes.

The information center Svanholmhus

At Agger Tange you will also find the information center "Svaneholmhus", which is located at the very bottom of the southern tip of the tang.

Here you can have a break far away from it all.
Get here by car, on foot, by bike, by kayak or by boat.

The small center is carried out sustainably and in harmony with the raw surroundings. In the house, you can immerse yourself in the nature of the area. Read about the coastal lagoon and salt marshes, the plants and birds at Agger Tange. Get answers to your questions about Thy National Park using interactive screens.

Svanholmhus is a good starting point for a visit to Thy National Park.

Golf

If you want to play golf, the area offers really good and challenging golf courses - with varying degrees of difficulty.

What they all have in common is that they offer golf combined with the fresh smell of salt water in the nose.

For example, visit Sydthy Golf Club between Hurup and Vestervig, which has a high-quality 18-hole golf course, a 6-hole par 3 course, a driving range, a putting green and a putting green.

Jutland Aquarium & Seal Safari

In JyllandsAkvariet you can see, feel and experience a wide selection of the many different fish that live in the North Sea and the Limfjord.

Here you can get up close to the fish in the many stirring pools with exciting fish, crabs and other shellfish.

Dare you pat a shark on the head, hold a crab in your hand and stroke a stingray on the back?

In Thyborøn you also have the opportunity to go on safari. You can go on an amber safari, seal safari, oyster safari or the fish keeper's tractor tour.
